Consequence analysis software for safety and design optimisation
EFFECTS from Gexcon is an advanced yet user-friendly software tool to analyse the consequences of the accidental release of flammable and toxic substances in process industries.
It calculates heat radiation from fires, overpressure from explosions, toxic concentrations and doses from dispersion clouds, and much more.
Key benefits
EFFECTS supports the design of safe industrial facilities thus, protecting life, infrastructure, and the environment.
Originally developed based on TNO Coloured Books, EFFECTS has been extended and improved for over 35 years to align with the latest research and scientific insights.
-
1Discover areas of concern in your design and operations
EFFECTS supports you in understanding the severity of accidental releases of hazardous chemicals. This proves valuable when identifying vulnerabilities in industrial processes.
-
2Generate reliable results to support decision-making in your projects
Use EFFECTS results for data-driven project decisions, including complying with regulations, preventing the over-design of safety measures, designing safe operational processes, developing emergency response plans, and evaluating the impact of modifying existing facilities.
-
3Find solutions to various safety issues using a wide range of scenarios
With more than 70 state-of-the-art models, 2200 chemical components included in the DIPPR® chemical database and customised mixtures, EFFECTS simulates a wide variety of scenarios, such as leaks and ruptures in pipelines, pressure valves, vessels and storage tanks, confined gas explosions, BLEVEs, drifting toxic clouds and jet-, pool-, rim-, bund-, or rooftop fires, just to name a few.
-
4User-friendly
EFFECTS is designed to have a short learning curve and be configurable for both experts and occasional users. Its modern and intuitive user interface allows you to quickly determine the consequences of accidental releases.
-
5Communicate effectively with various stakeholders
Easily export results to Google Earth with just a few clicks. This enhances result visualisation, making them easily understandable for both technical and non-technical professionals.
-
6Cost effective with flexible licensing options
Save considerably on license costs and have full flexibility to use your license whether you are a specialised consultancy or multinational corporation.
-
7Support a safe energy transition
EFFECTS includes functionality to support safe and regulatory-compliant energy transition initiatives. The models are extensively validated for analysing the hazards of new energy carriers, such as hydrogen and ammonia, against the latest research and scientific insights.
Major software update
Version 12 of EFFECTS & RISKCURVES software tools offers functionalities to analyse the severity and risk of hazards associated with new energy carriers.
