Introduction
This course is aimed at introducing the principles of consequence modelling and EFFECTS user interface and giving an overview of all the models available within the software: release, pool evaporation, fire, explosion, dispersion, damage, and combined models.
The course provides a general theoretical background that is consolidated with multiple practical exercises that will be elaborated during the course. Participants are required to practice and apply their new knowledge of the software through hands-on exercises.
Who should attend
The course is tailored for people who plan to carry out consequence analysis studies, including:
- HSE, process, process safety and risk engineers/specialists who work in industries such as oil and gas, chemical, renewable energy, manufacturing, and other process industries.
- Safety and risk consultants who work in engineering service/maintenance provider companies or who are self-employed.
- Engineering and project managers who oversee safety and risk analysis.
- Risk analysts who work in insurance companies.
- Regulatory body professionals who oversee national/regional safety standards/codes or emergency response planning development.
- Incident investigation team members.
- Lecturers, researchers, and students.
Prerequisites
The course is suitable for new users and for more experienced users who have not attended a formal course or would like a refresher course.
- You will use your own PC and own license.
- If you do not have a license, we will provide a temporary license for the training.
- The license will be soft-key protected and standalone.
- It is recommended that EFFECTS is installed by a user with administration privileges.
Benefits for course participants
- Acquire new knowledge and develop skills in process safety and how to use EFFECTS software. You will also obtain a certificate of completion as proof of your enrollment.
- Learn directly from Gexcon's experts who have in-depth knowledge of the LoC phenomena and process safety as well as vast experience in utilising the software in practical scenarios.
Benefits for organisations
- Gain the ability to use EFFECTS to complement relevant studies, such as consequence analysis, risk management, regulatory compliance, safety measure optimisation, emergency response planning, incident investigation and many more.
- Use the results from the software to make data-driven decisions for your projects, such as to prevent the over-design of safety measures, design safe facility layouts and operational processes, and evaluate the impact of modifying existing facilities.
- Provide an opportunity for employees to engage in professional development by attending the course, which could enhance employee morale.
Pricing
- The EFFECTS in-person training starts at EUR 1,800 (or local equivalent) per person.
- A discount of 10% is applied for every additional participant within the same organisation.
- Please contact us for the complete pricing list.
Agenda
This in-person course is delivered over 7-8 hours per day.
Participants will be given some time to think about how to simulate and solve a series of practical cases on their own, followed by a complete discussion and explanation provided by the trainer on how to solve the exercises provided.
