Our involvement
We are pleased to participate in the H2Symposium 2022 which will be held on 24-25 August 2022 in Tyssedal, Odda, Norway.
Principal Engineer Ørjan Knudsen will deliver a presentation on hydrogen safety in industrial plants.
Ørjan commented, “Due to growing concerns about climate change, the use of hydrogen for new applications in various industries has increased. However, hydrogen’s unique characteristics raise questions about its safety as they require further engineering controls to ensure its safe use. We can handle and use hydrogen safely, just as we do with other hazardous chemicals if we design the systems well. Because of this, it is crucial to ingrain safety into the new designs from the ground up to ensure we minimise the risk of accidents.”

About the event
H2Symposium 2022 will explore some innovative projects with the potential to trigger a larger-scale hydrogen market and examine how Norway can accelerate from pilots towards large-scale hydrogen production and mass production of hydrogen technology.
The focus area of this symposium is the hydrogen project development in Ullensvang, a municipality in Vestland County, Norway, where the town of Odda and the traditional district of Hardanger are located.
Odda and Hardanger have large amounts of excess power and could play a central role as major hydrogen-producing regions. There is also a real need for hydrogen in the area, such as reducing the carbon emission of local titanium and iron plants by 90% by using hydrogen instead of coal. In addition, two main roads between Eastern and Western Norway run through the region, a perfect location for corridor hydrogen stations for passenger cars and heavy-duty vehicles.
This year’s event is organised by Statskraft, Isklar, Hardanger Industri, Ullensvang Kommune, Kvinnherad Kommune, TiZir, the Hardanger Council and financial partners.
