Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR)

The PSSR is a thorough safety review ensuring new or modified facilities meet design and operational intentions before startup.

What is a Pre-Start Up Safety Review (PSSR)

The primary purpose of a PSSR is to ensure that all necessary safety measures are in place and that potential hazards have been identified and addressed to minimise risks to personnel, equipment, and the environment during start-up procedures and initial operations.

Introducing new hazardous materials or making alterations to installations and procedures within a facility can pose significant risks to its operational effectiveness and the safety of personnel. Conducting a Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR) assessment provides a crucial opportunity to thoroughly review and assess all safety protocols and procedures.

This comprehensive evaluation helps ensure that emergency measures are adequate and effective in the event of an accident or unforeseen incident. PSSR assessments play a pivotal role in safeguarding both operational efficiency and, most importantly, the well-being of those within the facility.

PSSRs are commonly used in industries where safety is paramount, such as chemical manufacturing, oil and gas, and power generation.
