A Facility Siting Study is a comprehensive assessment and analysis conducted to determine the optimal location for constructing a facility, such as a chemical plant, refinery, power plant, or industrial or commercial installation. It is an ongoing process that starts during the facility's design phase and continues throughout its operational life. It is a proactive approach to identifying the optimum location for placement and addressing potential and current risks to maximise operational efficiency.
These studies emphasize elevating facility and surrounding safety by meticulously considering critical factors like land use planning, emergency response, capabilities, evacuation routes, potential hazards, and environmental protection.
When risks are identified, employers are responsible for implementing hazard controls and adapting work processes to mitigate risk levels effectively and to remain legally compliant with zoning laws, environmental regulations, safety standards, and other legal requirements.
