ATEX Service Description

This document describes Gexcon Certification’s conditions and certification processes for certification of equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres according to Directive 2014/34/EU.

Gexcon Certification is a certification body accredited according to NS-EN ISO/IEC 17065:2012 and is registered as Notified Body number 2795 in the Nando database of the European Commission. The notifications concern the following scope:



Gexcon Certification AS is 100% owned by Gexcon AS, which in turn is owned by Blast Midco AS and Blast Holding AS (Longship Fund II). Longship is a private equity investor targeting medium sized growth companies in Norway.

Required Input

For a complete overview of what is required in the technical documentation, please see ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU, ATEX 2014/34/EU guidelines and requirements in applied standards.
In general, the following must be included as a minimum:
➢ A general description of the equipment
➢ User instructions
➢ Drawings
➢ Test reports, design calculations etc.
➢ Conformity report
➢ Equipment marking
➢ Declaration of Conformity

Costs

All certification projects will be unique and the scope of work for equipment suppliers will vary from project to project. Regardless of this, Gexcon Certification's scope of work related to review of documentation will follow fixed frameworks with associated costs.  

For meetings or site visits executed outside Gexcon Certification’s offices, Bergen, Norway, all travel costs, accommodation, and expenses will be additional.

Control Committee

The main objective of the control committee is to perform oversight over Gexcon Certification to secure that the company is operated in an impartial manner. The control committee consists of three members representing the following stakeholders: Owners, clients, and national authorities.
The committee is entitled to contact the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection and Norwegian Accreditation with information regarding deficiencies or irregularities if the management of Gexcon Certification does not comply with the input from the committee.


Complaints and appeals

A complaint is an expression of dissatisfaction related to Gexcon Certification's services. An appeal occurs when a Client does not accept a decision made by Gexcon Certification and formally expresses their disagreement. Appeals shall be submitted to Gexcon Certification within three weeks from the date of the decision by Gexcon Certification. Complaints or Appeals submitted by a Client will be handled by an independent Control Committee according to Gexcon Certification’s procedures.



Requirements for Maintaining and Using the Certificate of Conformity

This chapter describes the Client’s and Gexcon Certification’s obligations additional to the Terms and Conditions in the Certification Agreement between the parties and in the Certificate.
