You
To be successful in this role, you must have the following attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Automation Engineering or completion of an Automation Apprenticeship program (fagbrev) is preferred.
- Proven experience working in electronics or automation or as a Tradesperson, preferably in a testing or manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in soldering techniques and capable of working with various electronic components.
- Sound knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, and wiring.
- Knowledge and experience with sensors and instrumentation, specifically for temperature and pressure measurements.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations related to electrical work.
- Excellent manual dexterity and ability to use a wide range of tools and instruments.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Proven experience in a product testing role is an advantage.
- Knowledge of industrial safety, gas explosion hazards, or related domains is desired, not essential.
- Robust communication skills in English.
- Strong command of the Norwegian language is desired.
Helpful skills
In addition to the above, skills that will be beneficial are as follows:
- Ability to drive a forklift, with relevant licensing (T4 and T8)
- Experience in LabView programming
- Drone pilot licensing (A1 and A3)
- Experience in video editing (VirtualDub, Vegas Pro, DaVinci Resolve)
The Role
As an Automation Technician, you will be working with physical experimental testing at various Gexcon test sites together with our highly skilled experts.
In this role, you will be hands-on and active ensuring the effectiveness and reliability of our dust and gas explosion safety testing equipment and products, as well as jet fire testing facility.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conduct electrical maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on a variety of testing equipment, machinery, and systems.
- Perform soldering and wiring to rectify electrical malfunctions.
- Inspect, test, and diagnose electrical faults in equipment, systems, and wiring using appropriate tools and instruments.
- Fabrication of custom process control and measurement systems for bespoke experimental equipment.
- Collaborate with the testing team to understand specific electrical requirements and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical components, including switches, circuits, motors, and control panels.
- Ensure the safe handling of electrical equipment and follow all necessary safety protocols.
- Coordinate with the team to source and order replacement parts and equipment as needed.
- Keep up-to-date with industry advancements and technological developments in the field of electrical systems and testing equipment.
