From October 19 to 20, 2019, the 3rd National Symposium on Safety Science and Emergency Management was successfully held at the North China Institute of Science and Technology. Mr. Kjell Svellingen, Gexcon AS Executive Vice President, and Dr. Franz Zdravistch, Gexcon AS Chief Training Officer, were invited to participate in this conference.
The conference mainly focused on the basic theory of safety science, the basic theory of emergency management, the basic theory of mining safety, mining safety engineering technology and management, chemical safety and technology management, urban public safety, construction of public safety and emergency management and talents training, related scientific issues, the basic theory and engineering techniques of disaster prevention, disaster mitigation, disaster relief and other emergency management with extensive discussion and in-depth exchanges. More than 260 experts and scholars from all over China attended this event.

On Oct 20, four parallel sessions were held simultaneously, including safety production and emergency management, hazardous chemicals safety supervision and emergency management, emergency disaster prevention and urban public safety, public safety, emergency management construction and national emergency education. A total of 50 experts had reported in the four parallel sessions.
Among them, in the second session of the “Hazardous Chemicals Safety Supervision and Emergency Management”, Sinopec Engineering Incorporation and other well-known domestic companies presented reports based on FLACS, such as:
- “Application of 3D Simulation Software FLACS in Hydrogen Detector Arrangement”
- “Impact Analysis of Vapor Cloud Explosion in the Isopropanol Workshop on Central Control Room”
- “Scenario Construction of Gas Pipeline Accident and Emergency”
- “Study on Major Risk Prevention and Disaster Response Based on the ‘Scenario-Response’ Model”
- ” Quantitative Risk Assessment Study on Offshore Drilling Platform Based on FLACS”
- “Research on Gas Detector Layout Optimization Based on CFD Leak Dispersion Simulation”
- and many more.
The participants carried on a warm academic exchange on the contents of the report, shared valuable experience in practical applications, and fully affirmed the importance of FLACS software in the field of hazardous chemicals safety supervision and emergency management.
